Lauri is the vocalist and the songwriter of the band.
He writes all The Rasmus songs himself.
His songs are about things where he has been through, things of his life.
"My lyrics are always personal and every word has a meaning that reminds me
of something that has happened", the singer says.
First he didn't want to become the vocalist of The Rasmus, but after a while he was more enthusiast.
He's born in Helsinki(Finland) on the 23 April 1979.
He's 25 years old and that makes him the oldest of the band.
His full name is Lauri Johannes Ylönen and his nicknames are Lintu (which means 'Bird' in Finnish), Pauri (because he's
a very good friend of Pauli, Pauli+Lauri),
Liuri, Nalle(means 'Teddy bear' in Finnish and Swedish), Lare, ...
He's 1,69m tall and he's got green eyes who seem to hypnotize you.
Some say that his eyes are an open book, that you can 'read' in them what he feels.
Some journalists paint his eyes blue on posters and he hates it.
He cuts his own hair and the last time he was with the hairdresser was at the age of 6.
He's normal hair color is dark brown, he painted it blond for years and now it's black with crow feathers in it, which
makes him special, it's his image.
He collects stuffed crows.
He likes crows a lot because you never know what they are thinking and he thinks they're freaky.
He's got a 'Dynasty'-tattoo in gothic letters movers on his right under-arm and on his left shoulder a tattoo of Björk,
an Icelandic singer.
He loves cycling, skating and partying.
His favourite bands/singers are Weezer, Björk, Metallica, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Beatles.
He's a semi vegetarian, he eats fish and chicken, but not meat.
His favourite food is pizza and he loves to drink cola.
In an interview, he said that his secret passion is "Drinking".
He quitted school because the band was taking too much time.
His mother's name is Liisa, his father's name is Matti, and his sister's name is Hannah.
His parents wanted him to play piano at the age of 5, he hated them for that, now he loves them even more because of it.
Hannah encouraged him to sing and Lauri made the song P.S. for her.
The best thing about recording an album is "The lunch breaks" he says with a wink, but adds more seriously "The
best thing about recording an album is leaving the country with your best friends, living together in an apartment, not showering,
laughing, and playing 12 hours of rock a day."
He manages the band 'Killer' together with Pauli.
He smokes. "Martin and Micke made me smoke cigarettes, if my voice didn't sound rough enough", Lauri says with
a wink.
He's very shy and hard to get to know to.
He had to move out his apartment because there were fans camping outside his front door.
Eero Heinonen.
Eero is the bassist and background singer.
He's born on 27 November 1979 and that makes him 24 years old.
He's born in Helsinki(Finland) and was on the same school as Lauri and Pauli.
He's 1,80m tall and that makes him the giant of the band.
His nickname is Suuntavaisto.
His favorite food is pizza and his favorite music bands are Metallica, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana.
He's married.
He practices meditation, Sahaja Yoga, for almost 5 years.
"Sahaja yoga gives me a peace of mind", the soulful bass player explains.
"It's a really balancing thing to do, and also I've learnt so much more about myself by doing it."
"When you sit on a tour bus smelling like hell, telling the worst jokes and still feeling comfortable you know that
you're in the right place" He says about touring.
Aki Hakala.
Aki is the drummer of The Rasmus.
His full name is Aki Markus Hakala.
He's born on 28 October 1979 in Espoo (Finland) and that makes him 24 years old.
His Nickname is Aake, Hattu(Hat) and his favorite food is Chicken Pasta.
He's 1,70m tall, has got blue eyes and has got black Rosberg-glasses, which drops off his nose very other when he's drumming.
He studied in Nöykkiölä's upper-level and Tapiola's music-upper secondary school.
He also studied drum-playing in Helsinki's pop/jazz-institute, but quitted it because he thought that music-institutes
kill inspiration and everyone's own style.
He's been playing in bands after that, like the band Killer and Kwan and now he plays drums in The Rasmus.
He used to have dreadlocks but he cut off his hair in November 2001.
Now Aki's got short black-red hairstyle and his real hair color is blond.
He listens The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and he likes especially the drummer Chad Smith.
His favorite song is "Bullet" from The Rasmus.
He joined The Rasmus in 2000, after Janne left and moved to Thailand.
He says that drumming is the only thing where he's really good at.
"I pretty much suck in everything else but playing the drums", Aki laughs sarcastically.
He always shares hotel rooms with Lauri.
He's got a Ferrari.
Pauli Rantasalmi.
Pauli plays the guitar.
He's born on the 1 May 1979 in Helsinki(Finland) and he's 25 years old.
His nickname is Tonni.
His natural hair color is brown but he painted it blond for a long time.
He likes listening to Cypress Hill and his favourite food is fish.
He produces the band "Killer" together with Lauri and also the band "Kwan" and helped them to create
some #1 hits.
He won the Finnish Grammy award for Producer of the year in 2001.
"The best advice I've been given is that if you have knowledge, share it", Pauli says.
He has got the same 'Dynasty' tattoo as Lauri, but he's got in on his left under-arm.
